Virginia, John's home state, was a welcoming area. We stayed the night with relatives in the country outside of the city which was very pleasant. The city of Richmond is very easy to get around in and tourist-friendly.
Thomas Jefferson designed this tradition-style capitol with rotunda and monuments galore. Very stately and redone, the Virginia capitol was well-kept and exhibited much Virginia history. It wasn't the most elaborate but it was very nice and quaint.
